I am still trying to figure out how the libertarian view would be 'negative rights' so far as I can tell the article on negative and positive rights is about real rights and made up extra rights.
I don't think a libertarian would care if a passable tranny used the womans bathroom. I think the tranny or whatever has some responsibility to gauge the situation tho. They are acting outside the norm and many men prey on young girls or have really twisted sexual desires so it is not some cut and dry thing where anyone who wants to identify as a different gender should have the 'right' to do whatever the fuck they want.
Women are rarely sexual predators despite some peoples wet dream thinking... girls and women should feel safe in a womans bathroom... I think................that a passable tranny posses no threat to them for the most part.... I do think tho that just any bearded biker that wants should not be able to follow a little girl into the bathroom.
The solution is as I have said before that all bathrooms in an establishment or at least one be lockable for one person at a time or two who want to share at most. This is actually a libertarian view in my opinion.
Simply saying everyone can use whatever bathroom they want is insane. which.. is liberal..

The other point is that if you live outside of the norm then how much special treatment does society owe you? in the case of gender... you are the gender you were born.. no getting around that. You are basically pretending to be a different one. For whatever reason.
The actual question is... is gender fluid? obviously the reality is no.. but in many cases there is surgery and hormones and all sorts of things that fool the eye. Is that good enough? is it more than enough? where do you draw the line? as I say... what stops a big smelly male perv from following little girls into the womens bathroom?
The solution has to make some sort of sense for ALL peoples rights... the libertarian recognizes the rights of the little girls or women where as the liberal solution elevates some pervs rights over theirs. The solution has to be as I said above. And no.. it will never be perfect for every trans... but then... it can't be can it? not logically.
If you can pass and you do... but then you get caught later... the woman who caught you has rights too.

I agree as well, and, we're all crazy in our own ways. Part of being libertarian/freedom minded IMO is letting go of old stereotypes, and accepting that to be truly free, we have to really embrace the facts that others may not think or feel similarly, in every respect.
I'll admit to being slow on the uptake on this, I just started reading it last night, and finally realized what it meant reading this thread again today. I also admit it has me scratching me head wondering about some of the things I may have written in the past on here, and hoping I didn't greatly offend someone I consider a brilliant friend of mine. I suppose many feel the same, I was just thinking what parents would think when their children come out to them, and how they must go back mentally and wonder how many times they offended their own kids unintentional as it may have been at the time. So, if I did so at any time, I apologize now - you're the first friend, at least that I know of, who has made a decision like this. And that's how I look at it - a decision, which we should all be free to make. Also, considering how much trepidation I've felt today about this, I can only imagine what it could feel like for you Nuke, and not just on some forum, but out in the real world.
Nuke, I think you would be a great representative for your group, you should really look into becoming active in a public role, as your people need you right now, as it's a very confusing time. What isn't confusing to me is your views, from everything from politics to gaming, I can't remember the last time you posted something I disagreed with, and I'm glad I found this place and that we (and others) became friends. You've all helped me through what's been a pretty garbage year for me personally, and it's nice having a place to go where others help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you so much for that, Gman. It really means so much to me that you, as well as others, have told me that they are still my friend and that they are there for me. I think the hardest thing has been telling you guys, and really I did it in a pretty wussy way.. but it was how I felt comfortable doing it.
My dad and all the people I used to work with, including all the delivery guys (UPS, FedEx, etc) all know and every single person has treated me no differently. Not one person has written me off yet, and that was my biggest fear. My mom and sister and brothers do not know yet - or at least I'm noy sure if they know yet. I'll tell them in my own way and time too.
But you guys really are my best friends. Family is more like it, so it means so much to read what you've expressed.
If anything if I ever got involved with people like me, I'd want to get people to understand that no one person or group deserves or should have special rights. i think the attitude that a lot have is very wrong. I feel people should be able to live and do what they want with their bodies and their lives, but that right does not extend to the point where other people are forced to accommodate "us". I'm realistic and respect what societies norms happen to be.

You're a super good guy, Gman. I have always had an incredible amount of respect for you. You are truly one of the most selfless and intelligent people I have ever met.
