Time for another discussion on the meaning of racism.

  • The wokies will go the same way as the never Trumpers, Metoo, Bernie bros, etc...

In a way I hope you're right. I'm no more a fan of the 'woke' religion than its Evangelical ancestor.

But right now they've got some serious power. Blaspheme their Holy Intersectional Scriptures loudly and effectively... and they will end your career. Every large company out there is beholden to them- enforced via the HR department. Wokie Education is *required* for a shit-ton of college majors today. Hell, kids are fucking kneeling before black people and confessing their sins of White/Cis Privilege. It's like the Maoist struggle sessions and Evangelical alter-calls had a deformed baby.

This wouldn't be possible if the Right hadn't hitched their wagon to a fucking clown, and spent every dime of political capital on tax cuts for the .1%. I'm not gonna support the Left with this cultural-revolution shit... but it didn't happen in a vacuum. People have have enough of Middle America's authoritarian bullshit, and they're jumping on the Wokie bandwagon for better or worse.

Wokies and Trumptards pretty well deserve each other.

  • You're only half stupid. You can see the truth but lack real understanding.

Everybody is an idiot is some domain.

Hell, millions of people thought it was a good idea to elect a mentally ill demagogue to be the Leader of the Free World. And they got what they wanted.

For a little while :big laugh

  • That 'idiot' just announced a new stimulus package.... everyone will be getting a check with his signature on it .... just in time for the elections.

The Dotard's political instincts are formidable. He may have no idea how to govern effectively- but he understands enough to keep the helicopter-money flowing.

I don't know of the Fed can levitate the stock market through November... but they will try. Frankly it's Trump's only hope and he's well aware of it. He'll likely spend more money in a single term than Obummer spent in two terms. He's already close :biggrin

  • "He'll" spend more??

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C.S. • Well that's what I heard. Didn't bother to google it because it sounds truthy enough.

I disagree but I respect your right to be stupid.

  • The house is always in control of spending the real money. The president can finagle a few buck here and there. Congress did not give him a penny for the wall for instance. In general tho... No congress since the Newt has seen a spending bill they did not like.

  • two observations...

    1. It's entertaining watching lefties not understand how .gov works.

    2. It's fascinating watching lefties suddenly care about spending.

  • That's what's different and weird about the BLM dynamic. Unlike Occupy Wall Street, there's a shit-ton of corporate endorsements behind BLM.

It's a strange world where corporate money is backing the Socialists.

  • They think they'll get a pass when they start putting the bourgeois against the wall. That has never worked in the past. I don't know why they think anything will play out differently this time.

    I think it's a matter of short-term cost/benefit (long-term doesn't exist in U.S. corporate culture).

It costs almost nothing to endorse BLM and the like. And they're hoping it will provide at least some mitigation should the mob randomly turn its attention toward said company... with a fully Woke twinkle in their eyes.

A mob fully convinced lf their righteousness is a dangerous thing, whatever their politics happen to be. I think this internet-driven emotional shitstorm has some real Cultural Revolution potential. Companies looking to make a profit have every reason to steer clear of it.

  • And remember folks: the Milton Friedmans of the world have preached for generations that corporations have no obligations to anyone or anything... except to make a profit for shareholders.

I wouldn't count on many corps taking a courageous stand here :dunno
