Hrrm, you think they would have been more specific about that Iron, it'd suck if they lose potential new players and customers because that license isn't easy to find.

There is a link in the news post but it should be made more clear there what it is for and what the process is. I told my brother about the free trial and sent him a link to news story. We'll see if he finds it.
Gonna create a channel mission to defend B-17s from the Luftwaffe with Jugs. If anyone wants to join me/us for a session lemme know when would be a good day/time.
-
.50 cal only. No cannons, missiles, or water cooled engines.
Help me spare the world learning to speak German.
-
I'll get the Jugalicious downloaded.
-
So I see I'm going to need the Channel map as well.
-
So I created an escort mission. 12 B-17s, 12 AI escort P-47s, 2 client P-47s, 12 AI CAP FW-190s. started at 22,000 ft. Whoa. The flight dynamics at this altitude are like nothing in Aces High. Full power torque at this alt in the Jug is a big factor. The gyroscopic effect will also take some getting used to.
-
I reduced the altitude to 15K for the bombers. Makes fighting easier.
-
Dealing with the dynamics of almost constant power/torque changes is challenging and seems much more realistic than not having this.
-
This mission, -escort.miz, can be downloaded from here:

You'll need the P-47 module, channel terrain, and also the WWII assets pack I think.
-
I added a mission for those who don't have the WWII Assets Pack. Apparently the assets pack is not included in the free trial.
This mission is 4 AI FW-190Ds and 2 AI P-4730s and 2 Client P-47s. Over the channel.

That sounds like fun
-
There was a game in development that I liked Target Tobruk. The flight model was supposed to be very realistic
-
I'm ready except for how to arm the guns. I'll be looking at Chuck's Guides here soon to figure out how to do this.
-
Storch if you can, you should give the WW2 stuff in DCS a whirl - the flight model/dynamics/realism is handily the best out there. Il2 is pretty good these days, but doesn't hold a candle to DCS's WW2 stuff, IMO.
I'll try your mission out tonight Iron, thanks for sharing it.
-
I no longer have a computer nor internet other than phone.
I can't say I miss it.
-
I got kinda engrossed in reading the guide on the P-47 and I finally got down to the gun section....two things to arm the gun? Wtf? LOL!! I was going to make a VoiceAttack macro to get the guns ready to go but I don't think there is any need.
I also flew the escort mission offline a few times and I'm slowly getting better. I'm actually busting up Focke-Wulfs a time or two each mission.
The P-47 seems pretty stable as long as you keep the rudder trimmed to eliminate sideslip. Reading the guide educated me on how to manage the engine in a rudimentary way. I mapped the engine throttle to the right throttle and boost to the left one, water injection is on the stick and prop rpm is mapped to a rotary switch on the throttle.
-
Iron we can fly that mission online together tomorrow if you want.
-
I have to work tomorrow but am off at 3 MDT and can after that if you want.
-
Sure thing.
-
My gunnery sucks in this game, hard core. Gunsight is useless in the P-47 because I can never see it, it's always under the dash.
