If you live in the UK and don’t want to be shit on by people, employers and banks, you need a degree.
Of course you can always learn a trade or start a business, but that can cause you issues with rentals and mortgages later down the road.

I just heard that only 20% of the available jobs require any sort of a degree. Also heard that 62% of all millenials are unhappy with the degree they chose.

Its very complicated, but there are many “incentives” for people not to move up or down in society.
Who you are, who you know and where you came from is as important as the money in your bank account.
This is why the Conservatives are such a joke here, one the one hand they play up to an American style economy with social mobility, but on the other hand they are playing the “Traditional British Values” card which were fucking terrible for like 90% of the population.
Its one of the reasons our Government is in such a state right now.
