• Mule ears will be fine.. know how? he will release THOUSANDS of pages of nothing burger.. remember.. he was not here to convict Trump (supposedly) but to investigate.

Is the left gonna be pissed at the nothingburger? our own Twat can say better than me but look how gleeful he was everytime a non event got leaked.. Sooooo.. what will happen?

Both sides will use a fine toothed comb and get what they want from the nothingburger. the right will say..."hey.. this proves Trump is innocent and a victim" The left? I think they will say Trump is corrupt for doing a FRACTION of the things all politicians do every single time.. this narrative will bite em in the ass if Trump wins again.. this is hail marry pass time for the demoncrats.. all or nothing... America at this point hates CNN and ocrazio and loves Trump and the economy...

Convincing the voters that the economy will not be that much worse under a socialist? gonna be tough. Making people who now are confident (see business and consumer confidence) that.................they are to blame for every bad thing in the world and need to be punished? not gonna play that well.

  • I'm actually suspicious of the polling.

High poll numbers reporting for Trump could lead to voter complacency, and a lot of people staying home thinking it's in the bag.

This could be a deliberate suppression campaign playing on that hope.

  • Strange... it is far too early for this speech to effect the elections. And the left is the ones who are saying the polls are wrong. No.... I suspect that the speech was so good that anyone who watched it and the way the demoncrats acted simply had to go with it.

  • It is only because people are brain dead. Let take a quick look. People received "More" in their paychecks because the Taxes withheld were LESS! I saw that as soon as I received my update from the CSRS. I went in online and changed it back to where it was for the previous year. Missed a month because of when we got the update sheet. Now go to the deduction for married filing jointly. 2017 was the standard deduction of $6350 X 2, = $12700 for Married filing jointly. This year they got rid of that and made ita flat $24000. So in essence I received $300 more in refund than last year. Could have been a little more If we had changed the W2 to last years earlier and If I kept the Wife's the same as last years , but I let her withholding decrease. Just a little common sense would go a long way for these cry babies.

  • I'm assuming the weekly tables have been changed a bit. I've claimed zero throughout the year, made a few grand more than the previous year, filed short-form for the last 5-6 years, refund seems in line with what the article suggests

If politicians only got paid according to their district's economic success, there would be no more Democrats.

  • Yeah... I was worried this might happen when I noticed that they were taking out far too little from my retirement checks. I don't actually care tho so long as I get net somewhere around zero.... the IRS is not my bank account.

  • Every one of my checks last year was about $100 more than my spreadsheet figured it would be, based on the old tables.

I’ll know more once I start doing my taxes for the year.

  • The big impact was the $10,000 cap on itemization. What the media doesn't say is that this is impacting the upper 30% more significantly than the lower 70%. They also aren't telling you that it effectively raised taxes... because they spent so much time explaining that the taxes for the rich wouldn't go up. Seems to me they could just rely on short term biased memories and pretend they didn't say that last year.

  • No matter what... my tax rate is a few percent less. I am also having less and less to itemize every year anyway so the bigger standard deduction and the lower rate are helping.

  • They didn't say that retired home owners would be impacted the least, either. That would lose an entire demographic that they are trying to tell how to vote.

  • Well... of course it depends on income bracket. My folks have never really paid taxes since they retired. their house is payed for but their income is not much... so getting an even better tax break does not affect them... I mean less than zero is zero.

Me? my income is at least double theirs. I would put it about the middle or so of retired folks even tho I am single. since I retired and even with deductions for several properties... I have paid around 7 or so grand a year in taxes and also.. state taxes.

Well, the upper 30 pays damn near all the taxes anyway. Anyhow, I've read in a few places that in general, individuals are paying more taxes, corps less
