When the demoncrats passed laws to allow banks to loan money to people who could never pay it back that was the beginning of the end. No bank could not take advantage of that when the others were already doing it so they all went down together... federally insured tho of course.

THAT would be the aforementioned bad behavior
-
Banks are competitive. it was follow the leader right over the cliff. Getting bailed out was the penalty we paid for electing demoncrats... so... it was kinda fair.
lazs
-
Well, that money was pretty much paid back, unlike most bailouts the feds do
-
there was a time i'd have owned diesel. with the pricing of diesel fuel, not any more. not enough advantage to pay the extra money for diesel.
-
Until you pull loaded trailers.
A gasser F-250 6.2 gets about 15mpg hauling about 8mpg the mighty 7.3 19mpg no matter what, literally no difference the 6.7 gets 22mpg light and 20mpg pulling.

And yet not one of them ever served a single day in jail. I hope Barney Frank does a horrible death, crotch rot of the mouth works for me.

I shoulda said not enough for me. I don't pull much weight. my excursion with the v10 is happy. it moves out nicely. I don't need to pull anything heavy.

Are there any years the gasser 6.2 is to be avoided? I'm hesitant to buy a diesel with 100k-ish miles on it, which would seem what I'm about to do. Hoping for a 2011, as I think that's the first year of the 6 speed
-
100k is just getting broke in.
-
Yeah, but ANYTHING on a diesel goes wrong, seems to cost a couple grand
-
Most likely a $10k injector replacement.
-
I replaced the injectors on the 7.3 rebuilt the hpop while in there replaced the wiring harnesses both banks and executed the 50c replaced the mod and all sensors to the accelerator. Dropped the tank replaced the sender unit. Did the brakes and four new sumitomo 10plys for about $10k, just under. That truck is about to turn over 300k. Truck purchase included I'm all in at close to $14k.
2012-2015 on the gasser Beej
-
I don't count tires but 10K spent on any high mile vehicle is risky... less so on a heavy duty truck tho.

-
That truck will give me 1m miles. You cannot believe how well it drives. I only drive it or the 07 Titan which I'm still waiting to learn what a good header for that is.
I'm going to squeeze out another smooth 50 normally aspirated ponies from this VK56DE.

The biggest problem facing diesels today is the fuel. Not even big rigs are getting much over 350k with todays fuel.

One thing in my corner, after driving (company-owned) work truck 55k a year, my pov doesn't get used much, mebbe 5-6k a year. At 58, I'm pondering that whatever truck I get is probably gonna last me the rest of my active life. (Bought the Xterra new in 2001) NOW I'm thinking more about a nicer trim package, etc
-
Lariat or better
-
yeah, been looking at them
