Jonesey's Jukebox

  • Some great interviews by Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols, definitely worth a dig

    - If nothing happens for a few minutes, then your whole position gets leveled by artillery, they are American.

    - If they surrender, they're French.

  • The new Jonesy's Jukebox is okay since he moved to KLOS (a local station here in L.A) but his show was a lot better when it was on Indie 103 before that station shut down. Indie 103 was a cool station, most of the DJs were old punks like Joe Escalante from The Vandals.

KLOS had Frasier Smith when I was a wee lad in Hughes Jr high.

    Those were the days.

  • I listen to Breakfast With the Beatles every Sunday on klos. It's a surprisingly bland station for one that calls itself "the rock of southern california"...

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C.S. Lewis

  • KMET and Jim Ladd were always better back in the day. Fraiser Smith was cancer.

"The members of Congress know, from their colleagues in Congress, that, uh, you know, the, looks like a tornado, they don't call them that anymore, that hit the crops and wetlands in the middle of the country, in Iowa and Nevada. It's just across the board,"

  • KROQ was pretty great for hearing stuff you wouldn't normally hear on the radio but I couldn't always get a good signal

I resisted punk rock almost forever, then ended up with a best friend who was a punk.

In retrospect, KMET and KLOS we're just cookie cutter hard rock stations, and KROQ was taking risks.

Then I moved to Boston and WBCN was like a New Wavey-er KROQ.

    Radio is now dead anyways.

  • WBCN with Charles Laquadera was cool, especially Saturday.

You caught the height of their greatness I'm guessing. In 1980 they promoted a skinny pink haired Oedipus to be their program director.

Some of his playlist was great. I'll never forgive him for Flock of Seagulls tho.

    I ran

    I ran so far away

  • This was the beginning of each and every broadcast day on KMET with Cocaine Kelly. This ones for you Storch.
