Nobody want to talk about Irma?

  • It's a funny thing, but some years ago Shucks started a new thread called "Early Winter" - based upon the fact that New York had experienced cooler than normal temperatures one September evening.

Now we have Irma, which has wreaked havoc upon the state of Florida - and there's not a murmur of it on this board. Funny that...

I had hoped to get an update from Storch, but given that six million people in Florida are without power (including 72% of Miami without power) I suppose it's entirely possible that storch is unable to respond at this time.

Nuke will be along to advise me that the current devastation "is all normal, and has all happened before"... but in the news I keep reading reports which include superlatives such as "unprecedented storm surges", "record rainfall" etc.

"Florida pounded hard by 'some big monster", says President Donald Trump.

No Donald - trust your own bullshit. It's all a hoax.

"Spain is made up of 17 autonomous communities, the Canaries being one, so says the Spanish constitution"

    - Holden, who had failed to notice that the Spanish Constitution refers to the sovereign state, that being the KINGDOM of Spain. Just one of many examples of its name being abbreviated to "Spain" - incorrectly, in Holden's case.

  • There have been much much worse ones in florida but.... well... there were not even 6 million people living there at the time and only about half of the people who did live there had electricity anyway.

  • Well Beet, Irma was a whole lot of dissapoint for the Weather Channel. I've seen almost a hundred posts here about Irma. Funny you start a thread after it's no longer a threat.

  • I don't think any of them are actually gay. I know they would bristle at it since they're not.

If someone were actually gay, I'd never use that as a jab. Every gay person I've known has been pretty spectacular, especially the men.

If I could find a gay man to be my BFF, I would love that. They are way better than a woman BFF.

  • mom.. one of my gay brothers was as you describe...great guy... miss him all the time... the other was a POS in my opinion but others seemed to like him.

Beet.... I know.. the news right? Like all the people being thrown out of their homes in germany to house muslims.

LOL - I don't have a wife. At least not one that I'm married to myself...

I don't know where all these Irma posts are that you speak of.

Irma was a whole lot of dissapoint for the Weather Channel.

Really? I'm reading that parts of Miami are neck high in flood water...

not sure about beet mom.. I know he is an avowed atheist but not sure he is a socialist or if he even likes star trek.

I am not a socialist within the accepted parlance. I LOVE Star Trek (the original TV series. In fact I have bought Series 3 and many episodes of series 1 and 2.

NOAA & EPA data. Nothing historically significant is happening. The news needs your attention to sell ads though.

You're doing a Grits - focussing on the number of hurricanes but not their intensity.

  • Well, we have been talking about Irma. We have people here in it's path and they talked about it.

Storch talked about it from before it hit and predicted it would be just like the other 60 or so hurricanes he's been through, and he was right.

  • Ok... you LOVE star trek... you have to be at least bi beet. And that without even posting a pic of the steamer trunk you put on your motorcycle.

You sure about that? I've done a search on "Irma", and the only matches are in this thread.

I'm going on a motorcycle trip to the north of Scotland later this week - on my newish (less than 3 months old) BMW R1200RS. I fucking love this bike. It's not a "0-60 in 1.5 seconds while still in first gear and on to 180mph" machine, but the torque is huge - 125Nm or 92+lb. ft. 4th gear from 50 - 90 - that's where its legs are. I have a couple of pictures in mind to share with you. Please check back here in 2 hours.

  • I imagine if the thread does not have the word irma in it then it won't show up on your search. Storch seems to be talking about it tho.

even his daughters are concerned.... well were concerned... till it turned out to be just another storm.

So... lets get this straight.. the alarmists tell us there will be more hurricanes cause of MMGW... yet,,, there are less... so they change the narrative to 'they are more intense' but that is also not true.... sooooo.. they say that there is more people hurt and property damage which.... of course is true since there is more people and expensive property in hurricane country every year.

But what do you want to bet that the next thing the alarmists will say is MMGW is causing less and less hurricanes every year but only because they are hiding on the bottom of the ocean.

  • I'll talk about Irma... I was without power for awhile and trees have fallen... not anything unusual for hurricane season on the east coast

No trees were killed in the posting of this bullshit, however, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
