  • Earth axis shift: Climate change has shifted the Earth's axis (usatoday.com)

    Quote

Climate change is likely the cause of a recent shift in the Earth's axis of rotation, a new study suggests.

Melting glaciers around the world – a result of rising atmospheric temperatures from the burning of fossil fuels – redistributed enough water to cause the location of the North and South Poles to move eastward since the mid-1990s.

The locations of the poles aren't fixed and unchanging. The way that water moves around the planet's surface is one factor that causes the two poles to drift, the study said.

Each year, as the globe warms, hundreds of billions of tons of ice melt into the Earth's oceans.

“The faster ice melting under global warming was the most likely cause of the directional change of the polar drift in the 1990s,” study co-author Shanshan Deng of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences said in a statement.

I mean, just, holy shit...I actually thought that flat earth was fucking deluded. This might actually be a one-up.

  • Reminds me of a radio show I heard in Dallas back in the late 90's. They said China was going to throw off the Earth's axis by every Chinese jumping at exactly the same time. Then they said the jumping in China had no effect because it was countered by all the Chinese in Richardson jumping too.

Climate scientist Vincent Humphrey of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, who was not involved in the new research, said the Earth spins around its axis like a top. If the weight of a top shifts, the spinning top would lean and wobble as its rotational axis changes.

Apparently Vincent Humphrey doesn’t understand that a spinning top changes its axis because it is in the gravitational field of the earth.

Is the weight of the top and the upward force on the spindle in contact with the surface that upsets the gyroscopic motion of a top.

It is a revolution; a revolution of the most intense character; in which belief in the justice, prudence, and wisdom of secession is blended with the keenest sense of wrong and outrage, and it can no more be checked by human effort for the time than a prairie fire by a gardener's watering pot. - Judah P. Holden, Real science doesn't jive with the green agenda, you know.

  • You just fight in your wars and pay your taxes and leave the thinking to us eh.

Yall are too dumb, throwing money at companies to drill for oil that is so deep and difficult that its not worth it.

"Burn 4 barrels to make 2, slap your flag on it and call it revenue"

There is a logic to it, but only if you do your budgets in the short term and ignore debt like a good American.

  • Lots of easy to access oil and natural gas right here in America. No way I am gonna let a country that drives on the wrong side of the road do my thinking for me.

Not really. Plenty of fields in the U.S. that could be producing 2X to 3X their current output if it wasn't for ridiculous, feel-good meddling by the EPA and Democrat governors and congressman.

  • Hadn't thought of it before, UK being one of the few oil producing eurostates, they stand to make some coin this winter. Maybe they hit the Russian pipe ?

"The members of Congress know, from their colleagues in Congress, that, uh, you know, the, looks like a tornado, they don't call them that anymore, that hit the crops and wetlands in the middle of the country, in Iowa and Nevada. It's just across the board,"

Ironic thing is that our energy prices are sky high, like 4k+ dollars in your money a year to heat a small home or more a year. Thanks to the energy carte....companies.

Small companies that eat more energy are having it even worse, some are going to have to close as they cannot afford 11k a month in energy.

    Privatization failure once again.

Wrong again, government interference in when, where, and how is the problem. Your solution is more government? Stick to halfcafmochalattee's, leave the thinking to real people.

  • I've been dealing with 'government' people in my trade since the 80's, they're universally lazy and not very bright. I'm not sure why folks want them to have power over us
