Cheating in WOT

  • By Claus Kellerman.

Evidence of online companies that rig games for players so that they can complete missions or three-mark their tanks. How pervasive is it? My guess is that the answer is....very.

  • Ack Ack and his squadron utilized an aimbot hack.

I'm not sure if ack ack did himself but apparently they hacked into the targeting available in the TA and enabled it in the MA.

It may still be happening today.

Some other players had unlimited fuel and ammo. They could up with 25%

That guy went from perpetual n00b to pro overnight, it was obvious to anyone with more than 2 brain cells waving bye bye to each other that he was cheating. He would land hits at well over 1000 yards consistently until he got caught.

  • If memory serves, it wasn't just an aimbot it also affected the turn radius on his P-TurdyAte and made it turn like an A6M.

  • I'll cheat in single player games when I tire of them but want to see the rest of the content. Otherwise, what satisfaction?

I do that also and I've also turned on cheats in order to try out various things in the game. For instance, in Hearts of Iron, I've given myself units to try out and see how effective they are. I then use that information to make different choices that may or may not have an effect on the outcome.

  • Can you win money and prizes? Trying to understand why you would want to cheat otherwise.

    After a fashion, yes.

WoT is a "freemium" game, microtransactions are it's business model. Since they do advertise it as "free", It is possible for a player, if they play well enough, get into a winning clan, and do all of the special events, to win enough prizes and in-game currency to play "free" without ever having to actually come out of pocket to buy things like premium time, gold, special tanks, etc. And not too many years ago (doubt you can do it now) One could go on different gaming forums, and sell an account with really good statistics (High Win 8 rating) for a fairly good amount of money; I've seen figures as high as 5K$ for a Purple account that had all of the current Clan War reward tanks. I heard that there were quite a few transactions after the T95/FV201 (chieftain) came out, that fucker's simply broken, and the only people who were able to get them were those in the top 5 CW clans. Wargaming.net has the official position that accounts are not to be traded/bought/sold/shared, but as it turns out, they have either no actual way to enforce that rule, or they don't actually have the inclination to.

  • Don't play
