Of course you do. It's how you were conditioned. Words get packed with images and ideas and even emotions. When you hear one it can be like a landmine going off, or a jack in the box. What comes out depends on what you put in. When you hear things I say, you are supposed to make those connections. And it works well with you because you aren't much of a thinker.

Ad men attach emotion to product to sell it. Those who craft public opinion attach ideas to words in the same way. Your reaction is predictable, common, and for me a little boring.

And those symbols and images of hatred are burrowed deep within you.

Your “thinking” comes from whatever hate group think you subscribe to.

Let me explain me and Holden in story format.

In this story I am a middle aged Chinese man in Beijing sitting on a park bench, tossing scraps to pigeons. It's my lunch break and I am tired because I stay up irresponsibly late and still show up to work on time. I'm wearing a tweed blazer and I didn't bother to iron my shirt. I coo at the pigeons when they look at me, and they coo back. I'm transfixed and they prompt a smile.

But there's something breaking the peace of the scene. Just inches away a young Chinese boy name Holden is standing board straight just a few feet away. His gray jumpsuit with short pants pressed and shoes shined. A red kerchief around his neck, and a smart gray cap with a red star. In his hands is Mao's Little Red Book.

He's reading from it, loudly, so all can hear his compliance and cooperativeness. He's talking near me, and facing me, but not really to me. I hear the words, and I can see the little guy swelling with pride and resolve as he repeats them, but they are meant to be heard only. The thinking has already been done, the topics are closed. There's no alternative, there is only good and evil. There are no questions. This is the word. This is what good people think, comrade.

If I speak I will be met with nothing words and slogans. And yet I do anyway. And really, it is tiresome. Hate is an emotion. No one is organized around hate. You aren't the good guys. I'm not the bad guys. Good guys and bad guys are for westerns and silent movies with women tied to train tracks. If you are talking about hate, you are saying nothing. Try making an argument without using media buzzwords, just to see if you really do own a single idea you parrot. You have this whole neat concept worked out in your head and I don't buy it. For some reason it makes you furious.

Lee Greenwood will play in the background as you link hands with a group of all colors and ethnicities and sexual orientations, the sun rising behind you. There's no place for hate here mister! And your love and tolerance will conquer all the baddies. The funny thing about scenes like that is that they don't leave the camera running. The song runs out and the hands are let go, and eventually you have to get on with living. No conflict will come up? Ever again in your utopia? Yeah. It will. And you'll be right back to step one. Reality. And since you built nothing solid, you'll have no solution except to seek more dopamine hits with bromides and platitudes and endless affirmation as to what a good person you are. Perception and emotion. Now leave me to my pigeons.

I have to take it out of the actual context because I'm dealing with layers and layers of mindfuckery. If I say "You're just a victim of American propaganda and conditioning" then the Lee Greenwood song starts playing and the Chevy truck commercials and flags wave and they'll say "America doesn't have any propaganda, we're the good guys!" So, I just set it as Chinese.

You'll have to be less cryptic for the middle part, I don't understand that.

I'm not trying to avoid hate, it's as natural as love. Pain tells you to remove your hand from a fire. "Hate" in the current case is a device to remove a topic from regular discussion and analysis and shut down the conversation. There's no dialectical struggle(thesis, antithesis, synthesis) between Love and Hate, because there can be no synthesis, it's binary, good and evil. So, if a thing is hateful you simply run from it. So, you simply tar any heterodox ideology as hate-based and voila. It's not hard to reinforce this through the media, and it becomes a force of habit to think this way in the population because it's easier.

Emotional connection? Sure, to an attack? I would hope so! Where am I making an emotional argument though? I put out a fact expecting a counterpoint and they just say "Hate!" I mean it's textbook conditioning. If the thesis is verboten, you aren't going to get an antithesis, you will simply be called a heretic. And they do it in good faith from their perspective.

In their mind it's like someone saying "Look here's this nice cube of death" and the result is predictable because there are posters all over town saying "Beware the stranger with the cube of death!" Every mother tells their child to beware the stranger with the cube of death. At the end of the day they have no idea what the cube of death is or how it works or if it is really full of flowers, they're just following the pattern of a normal high trust society and respecting the prevailing view. The posters wouldn't lie. Surely ma knew what she was talking about and wasn't just repeating what her mom told her. Again...all the thinking has already been done, they're just parroting the results. No. First principles on everything. Be specific if I missed your point.

Fishy pretends he's just analytical and information based. There's no motivation or emotion behind his views. He does this because admitting how pathetic his obsession and arguments are would make him look weak. I eagerly await his "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I BELIEVE!!!!" defense. That he has to use it so much belies his complete lack of self awareness.
