Ukraine may oust the Russians but the corruption will remain.

For the sake of clarity... the vast majority of that corruption, such as the guys Hunter Biden was associated with, were pro Russians who coordinated with Putin to undermine and keep UA in Putin's sphere of power. The 2014 Maidan protests were them revolting against yet another Putin henchman that Putin took advantage of to invade 10% or their country. The whole thing since the mid 90's has been Putin undermining and trying to retake UA. The narrative you understand has been the pro russian one intended to flip the reality. This war is hopefully the final chapter of UA gaining its independence after decades of Russian meddling. They were deeply divided with Putin's partial invasion of 2014 but now that Putin went balls deep they are entirely fed up and fighting hard to kick the Russians hard enough in the balls to keep them out. What needs to change is the Russian fascist attitude of destiny to be the old soviet union enslaving those around them. that never went away and the ideas behind the behavior need to die or it will just keep going. The best outcome for the world is to let Putin demilitarize Russia and lose bad enough that the old soviet ideas die with it. Anything less is just kicking the can down the road for a few years.
UA's fight for freedom is about as American of an ideal as you can think of. We should be glad to weaken Russia to put an end to all the undermining of the world they have done for the last century. It is happening with our old stocks of material and without our blood being spilled.

I really don't think you know what you are talking about. Try to understand what is actually going on instead of listening to the same people who got all their facts wrong so far and who's narrative lines up remarkably well with the Pro Russia propaganda.
There will always be some corruption and UA has been constantly undermined by Russia in part by using corruption. They are sick of it and this is a revolution to reject all things Russian including the corruption.

That may or may not be the case. Zelensky who has only been in office since 2019, and was not a politician prior has been working to reign in corruption. It's not something that is done overnight. Especially when it is so deeply rooted and decades old. He has successfully passed legislation that removes legal immunity from lawmakers, judges, and diplomats, and also another that reinstated criminal liability for illegal enrichment. I'd say that is a step in the right direction, even if it's just a small one so far.
Like Rabidrabit said, removing the Russian influence is going to go a long way in cleaning up the corruption.

Ukraine was not forced into the Soviet Union. The people there were forced out of it though, by us. Russia is corrupt at its core and so is Ukraine. We may be wishing we had those billions back very soon.

Ya.. the Bolsheviks sure gave them a choice in 1919... seriously? They absolutely voted to leave the Soviet Union in 1991 by a 92.3% vote. Have you considered doing some due diligence on where your "facts" come from?
-
The Soviet Union died in 1991. I remember that well. So we're talking 70+ years of being a proud member of the Soviet Union. What are your ties to Ukraine?

It's not like they could have left until the collapse in 1991.

How many tried and what happened? You know better than this. Let facts be your guide and not ideology.

The Soviet Union is dead. We killed it. We did our part. NATO remains if Russia gets too uppity.

In Russia the ideology lives on and has been stroked by Putin over the last decade. You can listen to what they say on their TV every night. As long as that ideology is in favor the behavior exists. That is why this invasion happened and lots of misery inflicted on our country. At some point you may be self aware enough to realize that what you have been saying lines up very closely with what their propaganda channels put out week over week. That is not a coincidence and you should question why you listen to the people who tell you these things. They are not your friends.

I pay no attention to this war. I was in the USAF '73-'95 and believed we were just in opposing the Soviet Union during those years. We have continued to dip our wicks around the world since and it's been a lot more trouble than it's been worth. We are not the world's policeman.

Pax Americana requires us to be the worlds policemen to some degree. We certainly overstepped our bounds with Iraq and how Astan played out. Who else would you like to cede that role to? China appreciates whatever we give them.
If you opposed the Soviet Union you should be just fine with giving the Ukes the tools for their independence with the bonus of demilitarizing a now fascist Russia trying to relive the glory days.

They were denied for 30 years. Why are you thrashing around instead of coming to terms? I'm actually trying to do you a favor and you are not looking in the mirror.

I've sent my son to a war zone 3 different times and I disagree with the U.S. being the world's police force. It just isn't worth sending our kids to die in some god forsaken shithole where the people hate us for trying to help them.
Walk softly while carrying the biggest stick.

No they were not. They first applied in 2008 and were told they would be accepted but given no timeline. In 2010 they withdrew the application. That's almost 20 years before asking to join. Even so, if they hadn't withdrawn the request they might have become a member before 2014 when Russia took Crimea.

You realize their leadership were mostly pro russian Putin stooges from the mid 90's on right? That is why they rebelled in 2014. I don't even get why you think this is an issue. You should be asking yourself why your facts regarding UA are so one sided and that lines up with the Russian narrative.

Pretty good article on why Ukraine isn't already a part of NATO.
Ukraine Wanted to Join NATO's Alliance for Years. What Stopped It?In the years before war, Ukraine’s leaders made enthusiastic pleas about their desire to bring the country into NATO, and the prospect rose in popularity in…www.nbcnewyork.com -
I support Ukraine in their effort to stop the Russian invaders. I don't want to support them with my money. I already have though and I say it's time to stop.
Sometimes we don't see the billions given away like this as coming out of our own pockets. Our government has limitless credit and paper to print more money on. We're seeing the cost of that right now through inflation. And it's gonna get worse.
