And while we're at pull the fuck out of the UN. Kick the deadbeats out of the country and stop all foreign aid to shitholes that complain about the US.
America is a shithole

Scotland and the USA are pretty nice if you stay out of the cities.
Just like most any other country.

Chicago is a great town, you just gotta watch your step... like any big town.
Where were the Bulls when this shit was going down anyway? Didn't this happen in the railyard?

Scottish cities are fine, the odd drunk what what you would call a hobo but nothing more than anywhere else in the world.
Now you wanna talk about a perfect city, go to Adelaide, fucking shit is insane, just the right size, working public transport, keeping the tall buildings in the city centre and not letting them bleed outwards everywhere, suburbs after then out to the country. A road system that gets to you work with the minimum of hassle and gets you home again before dark.
And the real mind bender, the thing I could not put my finger on at first....no trash....no trash on the ground, even in the poorer areas.
Of course, your commute to work might be 1-2 hours....but hey, there is always something.

I can't picture Scotland being shitty. Never thought about it before, but I picture the outdoors and beautiful scenery when I think of Scotland.
I'll sometimes watch "Escape to the Country" when in bed watching TV. It's a decidedly British show where they feature a couple looking to buy a house out in the country. They show three different places during the show and have the prospective buyers talk about what they liked or not.
Last one I saw was in the Highlands. It was great.
One thing I always noticed though is that most of those houses, some really cool and nice and old, have very small rooms and low ceilings. Granted, some of these farmhouses and houses are hundreds of years old. Still, it's not like here. The rooms seem very small and little closet space, if any.
The low ceilings make it easier to heat the cottage with peat fireplaces...

My ceiling is about 12ft high
Just after I brought the place a bulb went out on the light fitting, now I need to buy a stepladder to replace it.

That's very high for an uk structure.

Its standard in older Scottish buildings.
Which is strange when you think about it as they had to heat all that with a single fireplace.

Its sits up there....taunting me.
Thankfully I have LED spotlights in the kitchen area that also give plenty of light.

Jeros' new place is nice.
Thanks, I like it, considering I paid the eqivilent of $124,000 USD for just over 284 square feet, AND THATS A GOOD DEAL!

The perils of home ownership.. I bet if you stacked that contraption in the photo onto a kitchen stool and climbed up on top, you might be able to almost reach the bulb. Go make friends with your neighbors; one of them has a ladder.
