Yep, If I saw dogs chasing deer while out hunting I would take the shot at the dog before the deer.

Bobcat?

The first skeleton would be worth a lot more money if you could convince people it was a velociraptor
Just something to think about
-
But there aren't any rats about.
I missed this. Rodents are everywhere.

Not in Alberta! They have a rat border and it's protected with penalty of death. This is the east to west border, the west to east border are these little hills called the rockies.
-
Yeah, I don't know about rats out in the sticks. Mice...seen em. Squirrel, groundhog, possum, rabbits, coons (the good kind)...
My neighbor's got a pretty big dairy operation. Next time I see him I'll ask. If anyone has rats about it would probly be him.
But rats didn't kill those critters...we'll see. If a real pattern emerges the answer should emerge. I just don't think it's coyotes. There would be other evidence. I think..

Here? it is sheep country. some cattle and... well... like everywhere... horses. people hers shoot dogs that are attacking livestock. I have killed my fair share of em.

Yeah well,
Nobody asked. Nobody gives a shit.
Now be quiet and let the grownups talk.

Coyotes, and they've been dead for a good while. The hair will just lay there for months.
-
Get you some roadkill to pile out in the field and practice your shooting at dusk.
By the way, you did ask. In fact, you started this thread.

Bobcat screaming at me while I was out grilling. (This isn't me.)

Last night my dogs were going nuts outside,I go out to look at what I thought would be a raccoon and low and behold it's a damn possum up on my fence and the stupid thing just sits there. I poked it with a plastic pipe and knocked it off the fence, stupid thing just sat there and let me do it.
Years ago I was on a trout stream fly fishing and as I crossed a meadow to get to another spot I stepped on something and it sprang up outta the grass,at first I thought it was a dead body but nope just a coyote killed deer.... freaken scared the shit outta me. Would have been the third dead body I've come across out fishing the other 2 were actually people.

I've heard the Bobcat scream before. It's blood curdling.
-
The carcass is a young deer- a Doe, less than a year old. She was killed by a coyote (you can tell the way her bones were fractured) and then savaged by other smaller predators, mostly crows and rats. You can tell that by the rat turds in the picture.
I don't quite understand how this thread did not instantly turn to address what seems like a perfectly lucid post from Airhead. Try and remember which pill you took right before writing this.

The first cry made me jump and I immediately started to scan the bushes for eyeballs.

It's messed up knowing that there is a little, hairy assassin that can see you but you can't see it and if it wants you, it will have you... and you won't see it coming.
I've been driven out of the woods by fear on a few occasions.
-
A cougar/mountain lion I'd worry about but doubtful a bobcat will attack an adult male human. Still, I'd rather not give one the opportunity.

I was a kid when I roamed the forest, and always had dogs with. However, miles away from help on a set of cross country skis when you come across a paw print on the track is terrifying.
When the dogs see it, but you don't... well that's just the worst
-
Cutter John and Wolfie see it, and my sixth sense is at its peak... time to turn around and head back.

Got snowed in at the cottage years ago and walked out to a farm house to use the phone. All the way there sensed something behind us (wife and me). It was a bright night so didn't need a flashlight. On the way back came across tracks, single animal, crossing back and forth across the road several times. The paw print was the size of a hand, 4"x4". Didn't say a word to the wife as she would have freeked like she did on another night when we came across another wolf. Actually was a young Husky that had escaped from the kennel down the road. At night could hear wolves howling.

Still woulda ate your ass.
Good story.
