The New Tundra

  • Just think where EV's would be if someone (big oil) wouldn't have paid off GM to vaporize the EV1 platform over 20 years ago. For example, that little shitbox was getting 140 miles per charge in 1999.

  • If you live in an Urban area nice second car for daily transport.

East TN on the hilltop 35-40 min drive to a walmart? ehhhh not so much.

Why not? I mean we drive that at least three days a week for the girls dance and cheer practice. I really missed the boat not getting an S model when the supercharging was free for the life of the vehicle. Still there's a charging station at the Meijer store there that we grocery shop once a week. Plug in while we're shopping and pretty much good for the week.

They just finished building a charging station half way between Windsor and Toronto in London Ont. It's located across the road from a Costco and has both Tesla and "other" ev charging. In fact you can park down town for free with your EV and get a charge while shopping, also for free.

I've been looking for a PHEV,best of both worlds.900 KM range aprox. and will do 30 miles on just battery so my daily driving wouldnt require the engine to be turned on. I checked on cost to charge at home, about a buck at peak cost, much less overnight.

As for being powerless, well 305 hp and 5.5 sec zero to 60 but that in full hybred mode. It seems there are more and more of these types coming so I'm waiting to see what happens over the next year or so.

Geezers gonna geez. One of my bosses drives his tesla 120 miles round trip every day for work.

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C.S. Lewis

How fast does it go when you select inbred mode?

I disagree but I respect your right to be stupid.

  • I had a ride in a Tesla model x.

    0-60 in ~3.5 seconds.

Compete with vettes in a soccer moms car.

Yeah I dunno... I was behind the ugliest purple Tesla I've ever seen a few weeks back on an old country road. He was trying to be hot shit on the twists and turns, but I was able to stay with him in the old Exploder. The difference was that I was using a lot more road and was stomping on the gas pedal to hang. If this guy knew what he was doing he would have blown my doors off, but he didn't.

I guess the point is that you can have the hottest car on the market, but if you don't know what to do with it, it's just an ugly POS.

  • The guys on Top Gear drove a Toyota Prius around their test track just as hard as they could and followed it around with a BMW M3.

At the end of the test the Prius got like 20 miles to the gallon in the M3 got like 19 1/2

Of course how you drive has a lot to do with it

  • It’s all how you drive but having a nice machine does help. I took a curve nearby that I’m familiar with without issue or letting off the gas but the brand new Porsche Cayenne that tried to follow me didn’t fare so well, rolled into the trees. The G35 I was in cost maybe 1/5 of what that Porsche stickered for. Dad taught us kids well.
