  • You think the geezers at the close of the steam age felt any differently?

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C.S. • The difference here is that the internal combustion engine proved its' worth first then people made the switch because it was better. With electric, that is not the case and we are being herded into it. I cannot stop and wait to recharge a battery every 60 to 100 miles.

The best 0 emissions vehicles ever made were hydrogen vehicles, they had range, power but the lefties killed them off.

60 to 100 miles? Dude, you need to read up on them more. Try 200 on the low end these days upwards of over 400 will soon be the norm. And a 3/4 charge with the supercharger system takes about 20 minutes.

Now even I will say that they do not suit everyone's needs at the moment but they are a perfect second car for a family. And a decent choice for many people, not a lot of people drive more that 200 miles back and forth to work.

GM told some Chevrolet Bolt EV owners to park 50 feet away from other cars, Bloomberg first reported. The precaution would reduce the risk of a battery fire spreading to cars nearby, GM said.GM has recalled a total of 142,000 Bolt EVs due to the potential risk of batteries catching fire.

So what do you do when you want to take a vacation 800 miles away and do not want to fly?

they are curtailing your freedom of movement.

  • Batteries are big fire hazards, they degrade rapidly - after 6 months of steady use your capacity is going to drop. God help you if a diode goes out anywhere in that system or if you wind up with a short because you will not be able to keep a charge.

  • Have you seen what it takes to put an EV fire out??? It's unreal, if you have an accident with rollover & entrapment (very very common in todays featherweight cars - I hear at least 1 every day on the scanner) you are fucked because the FD cannot usually get enough water there fast enough.

  • It's been mentioned before but bears repeating. Can your local grid handle 3 to 4 times the current load? We all know what will happen in California.

You really have no clue how the supercharging systems work. You should probably google it.

GM is and always be idiots. First Tesla was no competition to them "officially" and then they ramrodded a shitty design and concept out into the world to try to catch up. The results were predictable.

Well I said it wasn't ideal for everyone. But how many people drive 800 miles without stopping to eat and rest. In reality you could do it with probably 4 20-30 minute stops.

    They aint featherweights.

  • You might think the 3.5 trillion infrastructure bill might include trillions to beef up our power grid nationwide to support EVs. I haven't read it, has anyone, but I bet it does not. Electric cars are pretty much useless without a way to charge them. You'd think that was obvious wouldn't you?

  • LOL, you guys crack me up. I don't believe a Tesla has ever "spontaneously" caught fire.

And yes they suck when they do catch fire, any decent fire dept will know that you only contain the fire. You can't "put it out".

And EV's are by no means "feather weights". The center of gravity is so low on them it's pretty fucking hard to roll one.
