Just get on the plan and get the phone. It'll cost more in the long run, but the image and sound quality are amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the GoPro, but the S21U is so much more useful as an all around tool.

Dannes, I shoot all my videos with my phone, an iPhone 11 Pro. We upgraded my phone to the 11 Pro specifically for shooting videos, we did the monthly payment plan on it and I haven't been disappointed yet.
I've mentioned wanting to do fishing videos before and for that I'd like a couple GoPRo cameras, one to mount on a pole behind the seat with my phone in front of me and the 2nd GoPro on another stick for underwater shots of fish and baits.
You'll get far more use out of a better quality phone than you will with a dedicated camera.

With a phone, you can get free editing software and upload your videos to YouTube directly from your phone.
I use Kinemaster to edit my videos but it's not free, $30 a year I think.

After taking a look at several Blacksmith YTers I follow, and the $3,000 gear they use, I realized that I can't chase that kind of quality until it's making me any money. Either through YT or indirect sales.
I got the cheapo camera. It can't do close-up shots, but it's adequate for now. Working on a new video.

My Son just got a Samsung with 12 gigs of memory and untold amount of pixels.
