I hope the F-35 becomes a hangar queen... That the threat alone prevents a major war. If there is a major war I hope it will live up to our not insignificant expectations of its abilities.

The F-4 was a workhorse of the Cold War. In popular media it is overshadowed by later fighters, especially the F-14 in Top Gun, but the F-4 was the fighter that actually did most of the work. Such a great design. And it looks right.

When I was a kid I got to see the Thunderbirds flying the F-4 at Waikiki beach, think that was when my hearing problems began ;)
