It is critical functionality. You need that bolt to stay back when you're clearing a jam, not to mention having control over when a round goes in the chamber.
BTW... that was after trying several different uppers. Going with a special "better" BCG release and pretty much exhausting every other method. Inversely, you could also shave a bit off of the back of that bottom portion of the release.

Well here's a big fat fucking loophole that's apparently been around as long as the AR itself.
No question the "laws" regarding ARs are vague. I'll err on the side of caution. At least until I feel they become too oppressive.
The stock on the Palmetto rifle wiggled a bit. I bought a magpul stock and it did the same. Found a trick on youtube that worked perfectly. Just put a patch of sticky velcro on the tube. Very solid now and still easy enough to adjust the stock.
