Welcome to Flamewarriors! Before you step through the door to our forum, take a minute to read our story and understand how this all came to be.
In the ancient computer past, about 1986 there was an early multiplayer on-line air-combat simulator called Air Warrior. You flew a simulated World War II plane and fought with and against other players. In this prehistoric era the internet was not generally available outside the worlds of government and academia. Kesmai, the game's owner therefore used the online service GEnie for the game's networked communication.
One of those players improved the code and offered the improvements for free to Kesmai; people were that dedicated to the game. Kesmai ignored the improvements and spurned the offer. The coder, known as HiTech, then took the improvements and built a new game, Warbirds, that was much better. As internet gaming grew popular, Warbirds was purchased by a huge gaming conglomerate that did what all such companies do...milked the game for all it was worth and stopped its evolution. HiTech again moved on and started an even better game called
Aces High .
A very dedicated flight sim community followed HiTech through all these evolutions. They played the game and communicated through game sponsored bulletin boards. Each of the three games had a bbs. Mostly the discussions centered on the game. But there were always "off topic" discussions of everything you can imagine. There was a relaxed forum, usually called the "O-Club" or Officer's Club where these off topic discussions took place so that the really important gaming discussions could occur without distraction.
In
Aces High , this all came to an end. A group of people that had known each other for years in the various games congregated in the O-Club and discussed politics, religion, guns, cars, art, music and everything else under the sun. Sometimes these discussions got very, very heated. As
Aces High was a business, the company tried to keep the discussions pretty clean, work safe and reasonable. They did this by creating rules and monitoring the discussions. The moderation grew more and more intense, leading to accusations of favoritism towards some posters and general disenchantment with the environment. Rebellion ensued with increasing rule violations. The company finally threatened to shut down the O-club and bans of posters became frequent.
At that point, Caper12, King Shit, created Flamewarriors as an unmoderated board for these old reprobate flight simmers. A general exodus of all the cool guys occurred.
So, you have found a place where you can discuss anything under the sun with a bunch of truly interesting folks. There are people here from all walks of life, some that have incredible experience and expertise in various areas of life and knowledge.
Be advised, it can be a rough neighborhood. If you show yourself to be a stupid asshole, you can be assured that it will be pointed out in clear, unmistakable terms. It pays to have a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at yourself. If you're a thin-skinned nancy boy, you'd probably be better off just moving on down the internet highway.
Rules
While this is pretty much an 'anything goes' forum, there are some guidelines. Unlike most internet venues of this type, moderation does not occur.. at least not as you'd expect it. Say your piece.. but bear in mind that while the site is sheltered from most search engines via registration, you remain personally responsible both for your commentary and any undue attention that commentary may garner from others who may be watching or participating. This includes 'big brother'.
1. Please use the 'Crucible' for any 'racy' (non work-safe) imagery.. threads containing non work safe content posted in the General sections will be moved to the Crucible.
2. Don't do anything or post anything that is illegal under US or international law.
3. Spamming and trying to damage this website or deliberately attempting to disrupt traffic to/from the site is not allowed.
You can speak freely here. That means you have the right to say what you want but it doesn't mean that anyone has to agree with you. Quite the opposite in fact; it's likely someone will vehemently disagree with you. Some of our members here seem to be completely confused by that concept.
So that's it for 'rules'. Enjoy yourselves. Please be aware, I am not responsible for the content.. you folks are.
