Yeah, there was a big meteor shower the other night. Of course we had total cloud cover.

Comets, meteors, and other neat stuff in the sky.

Meteors, right, I know an invasion when I see one.

James Webb Space Telescope is going to be a game changer for humanity. I'm really excited to see the mission progressing.
-
JWST is on the launch pad. Supposed to go up Christmas Morning.
-
She's set to launch this morning. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for the next few months as JWST makes its way out to its deployment area and then unfurls.
This is a very complicated mission with the possibility of great reward for humankind.

I fear that the problems encountered on Earth will just be a drop in the bucket. This thing has BILLIONS of Dollars and countless man hours invested in it. I feel like there will be more than a couple long duration missions sent out to work on it. Let's hope I'm wrong and everything goes perfectly.

There is nothing perfect except imperfection

There is nothing perfect except imperfection
Well... let's at least hope everything goes to plan.
-
If this thing fails, it will be rough on A LOT of people.
-
It won't because we are not RussoFilthyChinks.
We are Floridians.
-
Then your People should be especially invested in this thing.
-
They're about to launch
-
Yup. If it goes boom, it's going to suck.
-
If she had boomed the ESA would blame NASA.
Now they'll claim the success.
-
Don't care. If this thing works as planned, it will be a boon for humanity. Zero fucks given as to who gets the credit.
-
That Ariene rocket is a marvel.
-
It is all very cool. This is the first Mission in a long time that I've been excited for. I sure hope it works.

The riskiest part is yet to come. When they spend two weeks origami folding it into shape. There's currently no manned spacecraft available that can reach it, so if something goes wrong it's little more than a 10 billion dollar paperweight in space.
