That's what it's called here to

Who buys furniture?

It's called Tender Centre because you go to tender an offer for the lot. It could be a lot of one, or a lot consiting of and entire house full of furniture.
It's one thing I do miss about the northern rivers area. We don't have one up here.

A lot of really old cherry wood gets really too dark. My grandfather had an antique store.

I'm actually thinking of making the bed with Merbau
-
leave it out in the rain (yeah I know) for a few weeks to make sure all the stray dye comes out.
-
Narangba timbers sell weathered and aged Merbau.
I'll be sure to pace the order a couple of months in advance.

Our Habitat doesn't have furniture, but I got some amazing antique stained glass side lights for $7.50 each.
They were jammed in between a few doors. I tried telling them they could be incorrectly marked, but they didn't care.
I made my husband and MIL immediately get into the car and leave before they realized what they had done.
-
Lol. Yes! Every time I see that commercial I glance at my glass side lights!!!!

Dad did pretty well in the furniture industry. I don't think he bought much besides groceries or booze for 40 years. Display stock came home and the leftovers got traded with other guys at the Trade Mart for everything from linens to lawn mowers. The rest got donated.
I wish I could find some of that stuff today. I still troll ebay for a couple of pieces.

One time I was in my grandfathers barn... there were these vertical stacks of headboards ... giant things... dark hardwood... They wouldn't sell cause they were all 9' tall or more.
My parents did get some nice (smaller) marble top stuff now and again and mostly have hung onto it.
